Hebrew 8:10
...I will put my laws in their mind and write on their heart...
Many of us have been taught that we cannot trust our hearts. We quote verses like “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked...” (Jeremiah 17:9), not knowing that Jeremiah was referring to the man who had not received Jesus as his Lord and Saviour.
The beauty about being a Christian is that once you are saved, you have a brand new heart (Ezekiel 36:26), and you can trust the promptings of your heart because God’s Spirit now dwells in you and He can lead you from within. And don’t worry because His promptings will never contradict His Word. Whatever you are feeling within you that lines up with God’s word is the way forward. For example one time I came home from shopping and had a strong feeling about my girl friend that we had fallen out and were not in contact for at least 3 years. I decided to send her a postcard and found out that she was pregnant and was having problems with her so called friends. I believe this prompting was from the Lord as I was not thinking of her till up to that time. At another time I had a strong prompting to ring a girl friend of mine and found out that she and her husband were having problem so encouraged and prayed with her and today they are a happy couple, counselling other people. Often when you follow your inner promptings, it is actually God who has put those desires in your mind and have written them on your heart. However, when you are approached by whomever, it should confirm what you are already faced with or what’s in your heart.
If you enjoy something and desires to do it, then go for it! Go with the flow. God Himself says that He will guide us from within. Let’s not doubt Him. And we should not worry about the outcome. Our part is to follow the flow. God’s part is to work in us both the willingness and the performance of it (Philippians 2:13)
Loved one, because God has given us a new heart, He will write His desires on it. And as we fulfil these desires, we will bring forth fruit and not wither and die. Whatever you do you will prosper!
